My computer is obviously infected with the Conficker virus. It's the darndest thing, it blocks websites that offer virus removal stuffs. Does anyone know how to get rid of it ( for free )?
The Conficker virus (also known as Downadup or Kido) is a type of computer worm that targets Microsoft Windows operating systems. It was first discovered in 2008 and has since infected millions of computers worldwide.
The Conficker virus can spread through various methods, including exploiting vulnerabilities in network services, removable drives, and weak administrator passwords. It can also spread through infected websites, email attachments, and peer-to-peer file sharing.
If your PC is infected with the Conficker virus, you may experience slow computer performance, internet connection issues, and pop-up messages. You may also notice that your antivirus software is disabled or unable to detect the virus.
There are several free tools available online that can help you remove the Conficker virus from your PC. Some popular options include Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Kaspersky's Conficker Removal Tool. It is recommended to download the tool from a reputable source and run a full system scan to remove any traces of the virus.
To prevent your PC from getting infected with the Conficker virus, it is important to keep your operating system and antivirus software up to date. You should also be cautious when opening emails or downloading files from unknown sources and avoid using weak passwords. It is also recommended to regularly back up your important files in case of a virus attack.
