I recently noticed this on one of my favorite sites (http://www.unitednuclear.com/supplies.htm)- They are selling heavy water to civilains-- is that stuff legal to buy, I thought it was heavily regulated?
Heavy water, also known as deuterium oxide, is a form of water in which the hydrogen atoms are replaced with deuterium, a heavier isotope of hydrogen.
Heavy water is regulated because it has potential uses in nuclear reactors and weapons. It is also used in some scientific research and medical applications.
In most countries, it is legal to purchase small amounts of heavy water for personal use. However, larger quantities may require a license or permit.
Heavy water can be purchased from chemical suppliers or scientific equipment companies. It may also be available through online retailers.
The cost of heavy water varies depending on the purity and quantity purchased. Generally, it is more expensive than regular water due to the additional processes required to produce it.
