hi thanks for you reply. what is the underlying benifit of switching between the vectors on covector (indices). I ask this because Feynman introduces the concept of four vectors only using subscripts only.
hi i am just reading some notes on tesor analysis and in the notes itself while representing vectors in terms of basis using einstein summation notation the author switches between subsripts and superscripts at times. are there any different in these notation. if so what are they and when should...
i am trying to solve this problem which states that
J(p) = (I/pi) p^2 e^-p^2 in z direction
is the current density flowing in the vicinity of insulating wire.
pi = pie
in standard spherical polar coordinates.
J is the current density.
I need to prove that the total current...
if a system is made of 3 atoms with no degeneracy with energy levels of fro example 0, e, 2e
would it be safe to say that the system only has three microstate or will it be 2^3 microstates.
if it is 2^3 can you please explain why?
the basis is orthonormal...so the solution you suggested should be ok...however i don't have latex and have never used it before so can't view your reply. do I just downlad latex to view the thread or do I have to do something else.
hi, I have a quickon vector spaces.
Say for example we have
X = a1U1 + a2U2 ...anUn
this can be written as
X = sum of ( i=0 to n) ai Ui
now how can I get and expression of ai in therms of X and Ui.
do we use inner product to do this...ans someone please explain how to go...

hi sorry about that i made a typo.
n=number of free electron
and I = nev/(r*pi*r) (r= radius of atom)
the answer i got before is still correct. I just made a typo while putting the detials in the computer.
I am just suprised that the magnetic moment for an atom is so high. CAn you...

The Attempt at a Solution
this is what i did.

sorry about that it is supposed to b p^2, a typo. I tried integrating by parts on the ,p, terms and using the cylindrical coordinates formula for for dS. I get e^-p(p+3) as result
